  • The amount of sleep you need may differ to another person – not everyone needs 8 hours!
  • Before you go to bed, ask yourself: how do I feel? Am I sleepy? Instead of following the clock.
  • It is always better to get good quality sleep over quantity.
  • Spending too much time in bed waiting for sleep to come on only causes anxiety and perpetuates insomnia.
  • Anxiety and stress causes your heart rate and temperature to increase – the opposite of what you need to initiate sleep.
  • Sleepiness and fatigue are two separate conditions.
  • Physical and mental activities such as a walk outside or sudoku are great to alleviate fatigue.
